What is Meditation?
The art of Meditation is to be able to concentrate on breathing whilst focusing on a particular thought, memory, sound or image for a given length of time. It is often described as a body asleep, mind awake state, with sessions that can be from a few minutes to an hour.
Meditation is effective both mentally and physically, it triggers the body's natural relaxation responses, which release tension and stress. The heart rate slows down, blood pressure normalises and we begin to use oxygen more efficiently.
On a well-being level your body and mind can relax, helping to relieve anxiety and worry, your emotions also become more calm and balanced, and as Meditation frees the mind of clutter, it can enhance your creativity, ability to concentrate and memory.
On a spiritual level, it's an excellent way to connect with the world around you.
